What is Twindexx?

1. It's a filter.

For twitter to become what it is, things had to get noisy. We wanted a better way to find useful people to follow, based on endorsements from the crowd and an inherent level of trust. A lot of followers are great, but it's not an ideal indicator of value.

2. It's a discovery tool.

Twindexx is a way to find the best and brightest of twitter based on recommendations of others and shared interests. You can find the most relevant people to connect with, and see who they connect with and recommend, and who they connect with and recommend...

3. It's the ideal platform for praise.

Endorsing someone on Twindexx, or any twitter environment, is a very public thing - and it should be. When you put your name behind an endorsement, there's a very good chance you mean it. But it should have context (what are you endorsing them for), and be personal (what do you personally value about that person, and why might I value them?). This is something we've worked hard to augment about the twitter experience.

4. It's a promotional tool.

Twindexx is an opportunity to be found by others seeking your type of expertise. If you're great at what you do, the crowd will reward you for it, and in turn, help you be found by others.

5. It's a brand management tool. 

Brand involvement with twitter is exciting. Even more exciting is the community's opportunity to reward those brands that treat us well.

6. It’s sharing

Create a list of your favorite twitter users of any topic. Favorite local establishments, most influential bloggers, technology journalists, etc. and share it with the community. Revisit your list’s unique URL and see a timeline of just the activity from your favorite users.

7. It's useful.

It's Yelp, only more personal. It's Pandora, but for people and brands. It's eLance, by the people. It's #followfriday, every day. It's wefollow.com, but the opposite. It’s LinkedIn, in bite-sized chunks. It's twitter:  power from the crowd!

A: To recommend another user, simple send a tweet to @twindexx using the following syntax: @janedoe #what she’s good at why? (example: “@twindexx @janedoe #marketing Jane is great at spreading ideas!”) You can do this on our site, or using your favorite twitter interface.

A: If a category doesn’t already exist on Twindexx, it will be created.

Q: What about...

A: Yes, you can add yourself to categories on Twindexx. Your own additions will not be considered recommendations, but will list you in the appropriate categories so others can increase your rep.
